"Bird-woman", linocut

I was always fascinated by mythology and by birds. In the Greek mythology, sirens weren't half fish (I think that this idea comes from Andersen), but half bird. There aren't much contemporary representation of them.
For this linocut, my major inspiration is from a painting from Waterhouse. If you don't know this painter, you definitely need to check it out, it's so beautiful. Something I wanted to add to his vision : I like that sirens could have bare breasts. It gives them some kind of vulnerability to their animality.
"Ulysses and the sirens", Waterhouse (1891)
